Not many know that in the sacristy here, one can view a huge warship lantern that was captured from the Muslims in the Battle of Lepanto. In the battle, the Christians were losing to the Muslim fleet. The Christian fleet was led by Admiral Andrea Dorea. He had a replica of St. Juan Diego's tilma, Our Lady of Guadalupe,  in his cabin which had been sent by the Archbishop of Mexico to Philip II of Spain who in turn had it mounted in Admiral Andrea Doria's cabin. As soon as the Admiral knelt before Our Lady of Guadalupe, the winds changed and the Christians won the battle.  The tilma replica today is in a chapel in San Stefano d'Aveto, Italy. Many historians attribute the victory at Lepanto to Our Lady of the Rosary under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
